The famous Russian band Little Big has once again grabbed the spotlight, this time by releasing a new track with a provocative title that features a Polish curse word. The song, titled “Ku*wa,” debuted on YouTube on Thursday, surprising the group’s Polish fans.
Little Big, formed in 2013 in St. Petersburg, is known for their unique blend of rave, electronic music, punk influences, and heavy doses of satire. Led by the charismatic Ilya Prusikin, also known as Iljich, and his partner Sonya Tayurskaya, the band has gained international recognition, especially after the viral success of their 2018 hit “Skibidi.” The accompanying dance became a sensation on social media, with millions joining in on the “Skibidi dance” challenges. The music video has since racked up over 754 million views on YouTube.
The band’s new track continues their signature absurd and eccentric style. In the “Kuwa” video, Prusikin appears in a variety of personas, including an Orthodox Jew, a mariachi band member, and a stereotypical Parisian with a baguette, while also running around Los Angeles dressed as a yellow Teletubby. Polish fans were especially amused by the repeated use of one of their most notorious curse words, “ku*wa,” in both the song’s title and lyrics. The video also opens with another Polish expletive, “ja pie*dolę,” adding to the absurdity.
The song, while comedic and playful, highlights Little Big’s ability to blend cultural references and languages, adding to their global appeal. Despite their anti-Putin stance forcing them to relocate to Los Angeles, the band continues to push creative boundaries, leaving their return to Russia dependent on political change.
