Norwegian chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen retains his lead in the latest FIDE rankings, marking 13 years and four months at the top. His consistent performance keeps him ahead of American Fabiano Caruana, who has reclaimed the runner-up position, and Hikaru Nakamura, another strong U.S. contender.
Duda’s Climb and Polish Representation
Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Poland’s top-ranked grandmaster, has moved up to 13th place, just one spot shy of his career-high. Meanwhile, Radosław Wojtaszek, another notable Polish player, has slipped from 52nd to 67th. Despite the dip, both players remain key figures in Polish chess.
Notably, former world champion Viswanathan Anand of India, the oldest player in the top 10 at 54, has made a comeback, securing the 10th spot. His countryman Gukesh Dommaraju, set to challenge China’s Ding Liren in the upcoming world championship, ranks fifth.
Rapid and Blitz Rankings
Carlsen also leads the rapid and blitz categories, with Duda ranking 11th in rapid and eighth in blitz. Wojtaszek holds the 44th and 98th positions, respectively, in these formats. As the rankings shift, the chess world eagerly watches upcoming tournaments to see who will rise or fall.
