On the same day it was revealed that soldiers on active duty were collecting signatures in support of Trzaskowski’s candidacy, we also learned that the Deputy Chairman of the Civic Platform (PO) will be campaigning at a military unit — wrote former Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak on social media, referencing a report by the portal Niezalezna.pl.

According to niezalezna.pl, a commander at a military unit in Czarne allegedly encouraged his subordinates to sign in support of Rafał Trzaskowski’s presidential candidacy.
“As we learned from sources within the unit, a lieutenant in the battalion stationed in Czarne (Pomeranian Voivodeship) was pressuring his subordinates to sign the support lists for Rafał Trzaskowski. He collected their PESEL numbers and was ‘relentlessly insistent’ about obtaining signatures. He even reportedly promised one soldier days off in exchange for signing,” reads the report by Tomasz Grodecki.
The matter is already being investigated by the prosecutor’s office.
Our article has sparked significant public reaction. Among those who commented was former Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak.
“So this is the famous ‘depoliticization of the Polish Armed Forces’ promised by the December 13 coalition… It’s absolutely disheartening,”
— Błaszczak wrote on social media.
PiS MP Paweł Jabłoński also pointed out the coincidence regarding the town of Czarne in Pomerania.

In another post, Błaszczak referred to the campaign activity of the presidential candidate:
“On the very day it comes to light that soldiers on active duty were collecting signatures for Trzaskowski’s candidacy, we find out that the Deputy Chairman of PO will be conducting campaign activities at a military unit. The ‘Train with the Army’ program was my initiative, introduced during PiS’s time in government. We designed it for ordinary citizens, not for politicians running election campaigns. The December 13 coalition has turned the Polish Armed Forces into a PR agency serving their political interests,” — wrote the former defense minister.
