Poland to Boost Wind Energy with New Legislation in 2024

Poland plans to pass key wind energy legislation in 2024, eliminating the restrictive 10H rule. This change aims to accelerate green energy transition, create jobs, and reduce energy costs.

Poland is set to accelerate its energy transition with proposed changes to wind energy investment laws. The government aims to pass the legislation, including eliminating the restrictive 10H rule, by the end of 2024. The move will unlock 99.7% of the country’s land for wind farm development, enabling up to 41 GW of capacity by 2040.

The transformation aligns with Poland’s commitment to EU renewable energy goals. Energy from wind turbines is three times cheaper than fossil fuels, offering a path to lower electricity bills and energy independence. The wind energy sector predicts the reforms could generate up to 133 billion PLN in GDP growth and create 100,000 jobs by 2030.

Deputy Minister of Climate, Miłosz Motyka, emphasized the urgency of the transition: “We must unlock onshore wind potential to ensure Poland’s energy security and competitiveness.”

With climate change costs reaching 260 billion PLN in 2023 alone, the legislation represents a crucial step toward a decarbonized, resilient economy powered by renewable energy.
