Farewell to Major Czesław Chociej: A Monument of Polish History

Major Czesław Chociej, code-named “Chłopiec,” a key figure in Polish history, passed away on December 26 at 96. A devoted patriot, he served in the Home Army during World War II, working as a liaison in the “Burza” operation. Born in 1928 in Sokola, Chociej’s journey from youth in the Polish Scouting Association to active resistance against occupation showcased unwavering commitment to his nation.

Building Poland’s Future Post-War

After the war, Chociej completed his studies at the Warsaw School of Economics and contributed to Poland’s rebuilding efforts. A teacher, economist, and planner, he later served as director of the National Bank of Poland’s Białystok branch. In retirement, he presided over the Białystok branch of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers, becoming an educator and living testament to history.

Chociej’s legacy remains a beacon of patriotism, embodying sacrifice and dedication to Polish independence and education for future generations.
