The post–World War II period around the globe will probably be divided by the date of the collapse of communism in Poland in 1989. That year started a chain reaction leading to the breakdown of “real socialism” across all of Central Europe. However, the fall of communism did not signify the rejection of all the leftist projects that system had carried.
On the contrary, repackaged into various movements—WOKE, LGBT, green, pro-immigrant, pro-equality—they began to triumph in the USA and Western Europe. These ideologies took control of the entire European project, regardless of Germany’s aspirations to dominate the continent. In fact, one trend complemented the other.
Last year marked the beginning of a crisis for the leftist revolution. In Europe, conservative parties began to win elections. To prevent them from taking power, “colorful coalitions” were formed—coalitions designed to keep these victorious conservative parties out of government. This political engineering collapsed after Donald Trump’s election.
Following his victory, left-wing governments in Germany, Austria, and France—and in North America, in Canada—were thrown into disarray. The wave continues to roll on. The moment of the inauguration of the new (yet old) President of the United States should mark another turning point in history—the end of leftist political systems.
