Tusk Rejects Migration Pact Amid Controversy

Polish PM Donald Tusk denies Poland’s participation in the EU migration pact, contradicting German claims. Read about the political fallout and his firm stance on border security.

Conflicting Statements on Poland’s Stance

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has firmly stated that Poland will not implement the EU migration pact. His declaration contradicts earlier claims from the German Interior Ministry, which suggested Warsaw had agreed to an accelerated implementation of the agreement. This discrepancy has fueled political tension, with opposition figures accusing Tusk’s government of misleading the public. Former Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński criticized the administration, stating, “They lied that Poland would be exempt from accepting migrants because we took in Ukrainian refugees.”

Tusk’s Firm Position Against Forced Relocations

Addressing the controversy, Tusk emphasized that Poland would not be forced to accept migrants relocated from other EU countries. “This is a definitive decision. There is no need to politicize it,” he asserted. He also praised Polish security forces for their efforts in securing the borders, highlighting the risks they face in combating illegal immigration. Despite previously showing a more humanitarian stance toward migrants, Tusk now insists that Poland’s priority is border security. “No one in Europe or Poland will waste this enormous effort with political decisions,” he concluded.
