Kaczyński: “The Law in Poland Has Essentially Ceased to Apply”

“The significance of the statement by the President of the Constitutional Tribunal is exceptional. Moreover, the true, legitimate prosecutors have taken up this matter. One could say that at this moment, procedural actions are underway. This is a situation that constitutes an appropriate response to the state of affairs we are facing in Poland,” said PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński in a statement.

“We are dealing with a situation in which state institutions, public television, and subsequently the prosecutor’s office have been taken over by force. The National Council of the Judiciary was also forcibly entered—one could say it was broken into. Even the Presidential Palace was subjected to such an act. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we are facing a situation in which, in essence, the law has ceased to apply altogether. In what the government is doing, there is nothing that aligns with the content of legal provisions or the logic that law follows,” said the PiS chairman.
