Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski loves to share photos from his diplomatic meetings—except for one. While he flooded social media with snapshots from the Munich Security Conference, he stayed silent about his meeting with Alex Soros, son of the infamous billionaire George Soros. The news only came to light when Soros himself posted about it. The big question is: what were they discussing, and why keep it quiet?
Big Money for Polish NGOs – But at What Cost?
According to an official statement from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sikorski attended an event organized by the German Marshall Fund (GMF) and Open Society Foundations. The stated topic was “supporting Ukraine’s defence efforts,” but digging deeper reveals a different story—one of foreign funding pouring into Poland to push a particular political agenda.
Foreign Influence on Polish Elections?
One of the most concerning elements is GMF’s CEBRICS project, a five-year initiative funded by USAID that was meant to operate between 2022 and 2026 in countries like Poland, Hungary, and Bulgaria. The program was so concerning that former U.S. President Donald Trump took steps to block its funding.
Despite this, GMF proudly states that its funding directly impacted Poland’s 2023 parliamentary elections. They provided four grants totalling nearly $80,000, funding projects like “Election Superhero” and “Voter Lighthouse.” These initiatives—reaching over 5.7 million voters—raise serious questions about whether foreign organizations had a hand in shaping the election outcome.
But there’s more. GMF also distributes funds through the European Commission’s “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values” (CERV) program, supporting various left-wing NGOs in Poland. Here’s where some of that money went:
- Panoptykon Foundation – $30,000 for “hate speech monitoring” (read: internet censorship?).
- Ocalenie Foundation – $40,000 for migrant aid at the Polish-Belarusian border.
- BoMiasto – $20,000 for a radical “Queer Academy” in Silesia.
- Watchdog Polska – $30,000 for “civic oversight” (often targeting conservative initiatives) and many more.
Soros’ Open Society: The Cash Keeps Flowing
GMF isn’t the only player funnelling foreign money into Poland. The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, have been bankrolling Polish NGOs for years. In 2023 alone, OSF funnelled millions into various left-leaning organizations:
- Legal Intervention Association – $600,000 for migrant advocacy.
- Campus Poland Foundation – $150,000 to support pro-opposition events featuring Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski.
- Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights – $250,000 for two years.
- Open Business – $250,000 for LGBT activism and Warsaw Pride events.
- More in Common – A whopping $3 million over three years and many more.
What’s the Real Agenda?
The numbers don’t lie. Foreign billionaires, powerful NGOs, and even European bureaucrats are pumping millions into Poland to promote a particular worldview. They claim it’s about “democracy,” but when foreign money influences elections, controls NGOs, and pushes policies that often go against Polish traditions and interests, is that really democracy?
