Donald Trump is reshaping the balance of power in Europe, marginalizing Germany, and exposing Donald Tusk as a tool of Western elites. Meanwhile, in Poland, Tusk’s government is focused on eliminating the opposition, using methods reminiscent of authoritarian regimes. Poland should be a key partner for the USA, not a pawn in Berlin’s game.
The conversation took place on TV Republika in the program “Michał Rachoń,” where editor Michał Rachoń spoke with MP Jan Kanthak from the Law and Justice (PiS) party.
The discussion covered a range of issues related to Poland’s security and the emerging geopolitical order. Among them were the agreement between the USA and Ukraine, as well as Poland’s place in the new “geopolitical puzzle.”
Trump exposes Tusk’s and German elites’ plan
As MP Kanthak emphasized, it became clear after the U.S. elections that the administration of Donald Trump is far more professional than portrayed by left-liberal media in Poland. According to him, President Trump was well aware of the processes taking place in Europe, and his first statements and actions blew up the “German-Tusk” plan to subordinate Poland to Brussels and Berlin.
As a result of Trump’s initial actions, Germany has been marginalized on the international stage, and Donald Tusk has lost his political foothold.
Donald Trump, as President of the United States, has dismantled the entire German-Tusk plan regarding the situation in Poland and the European Union. Germany has been completely sidelined in the context of Ukraine, and no one takes the German position seriously anymore,
said MP Jan Kanthak.
The politician emphasized that the currently ruling “December 13 coalition” has no vision for Poland, except for one thing – eliminating political competition.
Hunting the opposition – Poland on the path to authoritarianism?
According to the PiS politician, the actions of the current government in Poland increasingly resemble the methods used against Donald Trump in the USA. Democrats accused him of everything while persecuting his supporters and associates. MP Kanthak claims that the situation in Poland is similar: the state apparatus is being used to destroy political rivals.
All the election promises of the Civic Platform have been set aside, except for one – imprisoning people associated with Law and Justice. New charges brought by the illegal prosecutor’s office, new arrest warrants – this is happening consistently,
warned Kanthak.
This political offensive is further illustrated by the speech of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance at the Munich Security Conference, where Vance openly criticized the methods of destroying political opponents in Europe. Although Poland was not explicitly mentioned, the context was clear – Central Europe is becoming a testing ground for political repression orchestrated from Berlin and Brussels.
Donald Trump like Al Capone…
The politician referred to Donald Trump’s own statements about the persecution he faced during Joe Biden’s presidency. Recall that the number of charges against Trump before November 2024 exceeded those ever brought against Al Capone.
This is no coincidence – Trump has become a symbol of the fight for democratic standards, which are beginning to disappear in Europe and Poland,
noted Kanthak.
As an example, MP Kanthak pointed to the mechanisms used in Poland, where the opposition is being targeted through legal methods, accusations, and arrests.
This is a scenario known from authoritarian regimes, and the current ruling coalition in Poland seems to be consistently implementing it,
he added.
USA and Ukraine – Trump’s geopolitical game
The conversation also touched on international politics in the context of Ukraine. Kanthak emphasized that Western media accused Donald Trump of pro-Russian sympathies, although he is playing a completely different game – he wants to secure American interests in Ukraine and marginalize German influence.
Donald Trump has shown that he outmaneuvered the liberal elites who accused him of betraying Ukraine. Meanwhile, he extends sanctions against Russia, signs a massive deal on rare earth metals, and clearly declares that the USA will defend its interests in this country,
commented Kanthak.
The politician believes that Poland can play a key role in this arrangement, but the condition is a change of government, as Donald Tusk is pursuing German interests, which aim to push Poland to the margins of international politics.
The election campaign as a referendum on Tusk’s government
The topic of the upcoming May presidential elections, which could be a turning point for Poland, was also discussed. As Jan Kanthak emphasized, these elections are essentially a plebiscite: whether Poles want Donald Tusk’s rule or change.
Karol Nawrocki strongly emphasizes that these elections will be a kind of referendum: are you for Donald Tusk’s rule, or are you against it? We have no doubt that an opposition victory will lead to early elections and changes in Poland, he stated.
The outcome of this clash will determine whether Poland remains under the heel of German elites or chooses the path of sovereignty and partnership with the United States. The stakes have never been higher.
