Morawiecki Endorsed Simion’s Candidacy
During a press conference in Bucharest, Mateusz Morawiecki expressed his support for George Simion’s candidacy in the Romanian presidential elections. It should be noted that Simion also enjoys the full endorsement of Călin Georgescu, who was excluded from the presidential race this year.
In the Romanian capital, the head of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) emphasized that Simion represents a pillar of stability, which is currently essential for all of Europe. Morawiecki also underscored Simion’s commitment to strengthening relations with the United States.
“I have been to the United States many times with George Simion, where we conducted numerous discussions with the U.S. administration and representatives of the Republican Party. This is exactly what Europe and Romania need—more cooperation with the United States,”
he stated.
A Self-Inflicted Blow
For Donald Tusk, however, Morawiecki’s endorsement of Simion became an ideal opportunity to launch yet another attack on the PiS politician. As is his custom, Tusk posted a critical comment on the platform X.
“Morawiecki supported George Simion in the Romanian presidential elections while in Bucharest. Simion is the leader of the openly pro-Russian and anti-European AUR party. Romania is a key partner in defending the eastern border of the EU and NATO. They are not even trying to hide it anymore,”
wrote the Polish Prime Minister.
Almost immediately, Tusk’s statement was met with a strong response from Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska and head of TV Republika.
“This is an absolute lie. George Simion is the most pro-American politician in Romania. You are counting on the illiteracy of your voters and trying to justify an attack on democracy in Romania. But what else can one expect from a man who was fist-bumping Putin over the body of the Polish president?”
replied Sakiewicz.
To absolutne kłamstwo.

The Photograph with Putin
George Simion himself also responded to Tusk’s post. He reminded the head of the ruling coalition of the accusations Tusk had previously made against Donald Trump—specifically, that he had labelled Trump a “Russian agent.” Later, as a reminder, Tusk denied ever having made such claims.
With full irony, Simion wrote that he considered Tusk’s comment to be a… premonition of his victory in the presidential elections. But that was not all—he also attached the famous photograph of Tusk with Putin on the pier, thus making a pointed remark about “pro-Russian tendencies.”
“The last time you called a presidential candidate a Russian agent, he became the leader of the free world. Hope you bring luck this time as well, Donald,”
Simion wrote.
