On Wednesday morning, eight police officers entered the home of Ryszard Majdzik, an anti-communist opposition activist from the Polish People’s Republic (PRL) era. The officers were allegedly searching for firearms. “They raided my apartment like during martial law,” Majdzik stated on TV Republika.
“This morning, they raided my apartment like during martial law, searching for firearms,”
he said in a live connection with TV Republika.
He reported that the search warrant had been signed at the end of February by Aneta Frankowska, a prosecutor from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wieliczka.
When asked about the reasons for the proceedings, he suggested it was due to his previous statements.
“It’s about the fact that Majdzik said we will defend ourselves against Tusk’s and Bodnar’s thugs, who murder people just like Barbara Skrzypek,”
he remarked.
Eight officers participated in the search. The police refused to be recorded.
The distressed homeowner was repeatedly told to calm down, with officers adding, “but you have a heart condition.” Majdzik later admitted on TV Republika that he has cardiological issues.
“No One Can Feel Safe”
The raid was immediately commented on during the TV Republika broadcast by Przemysław Czarnek.
“On Friday, I was with Ryszard Majdzik at a protest in Kraków against rising prices. What is happening now confirms that we are living in a totalitarian state. No one in this country can feel safe,”
said the former Minister of Education and Science.
Planned Protest in Kraków
On Saturday, March 22, Majdzik is scheduled to participate in a protest in Kraków “against the liquidation of the Polish state.” He is co-organizing the event with the Gazeta Polska Clubs. The demonstration is set to begin at 4:00 PM at Matejko Square.
Other Gazeta Polska Clubs have already announced their participation in the gathering.
