Today, in Gorlice, the funeral of Barbara Skrzypek, a long-time associate of the leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, Jarosław Kaczyński, will take place. The ceremony will be private, attended by President Andrzej Duda, the PiS leader, as well as PiS-backed presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki and other party politicians.
The Funeral of Barbara Skrzypek
Barbara Skrzypek passed away on March 15 at the age of 66. According to preliminary autopsy results, the cause of death was a massive heart attack.
The farewell ceremony will begin at 12:15 PM with a Rosary prayer at the Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gorlice (Małopolskie Province), followed by a funeral Mass. The deceased will be laid to rest at the local parish cemetery.
PiS politicians emphasize that her passing is a tremendous loss for them. Jarosław Kaczyński stated that the late Barbara Skrzypek “was a truly extraordinary person, a key figure behind many prominent political careers.”
“Above all, she was an extraordinary person. In her profession, she was a genius, incredibly hardworking, and exceptionally courageous, as she endured an incredibly difficult life,”
said Jarosław Kaczyński.
President Andrzej Duda noted that Skrzypek was a well-known figure within his political circle. PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek announced that, in accordance with the family’s wishes, the media have been asked to respect the private nature of the ceremony.
Skrzypek passed away three days after being questioned at the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office regarding the Srebrna company and the so-called “two towers” case. The proceedings were conducted by Prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek in the presence of two legal representatives of the aggrieved party. Skrzypek was interrogated alone, as her attorney was not permitted to participate in the proceedings. PiS politicians, including the party leader, believe there is a connection between Barbara Skrzypek’s questioning and her subsequent death.
