Joanna Jenerowicz, Head of the Independent Media Foundation (Fundacja Niezależne Media), has transferred 400,000 PLN to the prosecutor’s office as a bail payment for former Chancellery of the Prime Minister official, Anna Wójcik, who was released from custody yesterday.
The news of the transfer was shared on social media by Tomasz Sakiewicz, EIC of TV Republika and Gazeta Polska.

On Thursday, shortly after 1 PM, Anna Wójcik was released from the detention center in Katowice after spending over two months behind bars. Her release followed a decision by the prosecutor’s office to lift the preventive measure of pre-trial detention.
In January, Anna Wójcik, her husband, and Paweł K., the owner of a PR agency, were detained by the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA). Wójcik’s husband was later released. The family’s ordeal has had a devastating impact on the couple’s disabled son. As attorney Krzysztof Wąsowski recently confirmed on TV Republika, the 13-year-old had recently attempted suicide.
As part of the new preventive measures, the prosecution set bail at 400,000 PLN. On Thursday, Tomasz Sakiewicz announced that this amount would be covered by Joanna Jenerowicz, head of the Independent Media Foundation.
“They essentially took a child hostage. (…) Public resistance started to grow, and even their own media began criticizing them, so they caved and said—fine, post 400,000. Why 400,000? That’s the amount they demanded, so we had to find it and do everything in our power to pay it. This is the kind of thing we’ll continue to see as long as they’re in power. We’re facing intimidation of advertisers, attempts to revoke our licenses, not to mention a slew of audits and threats against our various entities. The way this government is targeting freedom of speech… You have to ask yourself, where are we? What kind of place have we ended up in?”
— said Sakiewicz on TV Republika.
In an interview with the station, Anna Wójcik expressed her gratitude for the bail payment:
“I was told about it immediately—as soon as the cell door opened and my lawyer came in. The first piece of news I received was that TV Republika had decided to post bail on my behalf. I will be forever grateful for that.”
— said Wójcik in a conversation with Monika Borkowska.
