Recent polls measuring public support for presidential candidates have not been favourable for Rafał Trzaskowski. The Civic Coalition’s candidate has been losing percentage points from one survey to the next. “I believe more and more Poles are beginning to see through the falseness and to recognize that Rafał Trzaskowski is not authentic. He is someone who is currently pretending to be a completely different person,” commented Zbigniew Bogucki, a Member of Parliament representing the Law and Justice Party (PiS), during a broadcast on TV Republika.
Voters Are Beginning to Discern the Difference Between Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki
This week—despite the joyful atmosphere of the Easter holidays—has proven challenging for the Civic Coalition, particularly for the campaign team of Rafał Trzaskowski.
In recent days, public opinion has been stirred by polls indicating a significant drop in support for the Civic Coalition’s candidate. Both experts and social media commentators agree that this decline in Trzaskowski’s ratings is a consequence of the presidential debates. Out of the three held (one of which was organized by his own team), Trzaskowski failed to attend two. This fact appears to have displeased a significant portion of the Polish electorate.
Recent polls indicate that Trzaskowski may have lost as much as 8 percentage points compared to pre-debate surveys.
“Nawrocki Is Gaining”
The situation now looks markedly different for Karol Nawrocki, an independent civic candidate for president. Not only has the percentage gap between him and his main opponent narrowed, but his overall support is also on the rise.
Zbigniew Bogucki addressed the results of the latest polls during a recent appearance on TV Republika.
“One must say that it is primarily Karol Nawrocki who is gaining. He has the courage to answer questions and is not afraid to participate in debates, regardless of the venue. He is consistent. He has already visited over 260 counties. He has a program and is presenting a vision for a new Poland. He speaks about the issues we have been raising for many years, yet he presents them with his own vision,”
noted the politician.
He added: “Rafał Trzaskowski is the opposite of all this.”
“Firstly, he fears debate—he avoids it. He backed out of the debate in Końskie and did not attend the Republika debate. He lacks a program, he lacks a vision. Most importantly, he is a politician who lies. Changing one’s stance for electoral gain is not the same as genuinely rethinking one’s views on various issues. He does it purely for campaign purposes,”
Bogucki enumerated.
“Poles Perceive the Falseness “
In his view: “More and more Poles are perceiving the falseness and recognizing that Rafał Trzaskowski is not genuine. He is someone who is currently pretending to be someone else entirely.”
“I believe that evading questions and debates is perceived very negatively by Poles. Hence the drop in support. Of course, this should not make us complacent,”
he added.
Bogucki explained that despite the positive outlook, Dr Nawrocki’s campaign team is not resting on its laurels.
“We will all continue to work toward victory in the elections. First, we aim for a strong result in the first round, and then we must win the final vote. This must be done, above all, for the sake of Poland. Only Karol Nawrocki guarantees the continuation of a politics of normalcy—of a serious Polish state that protects its interests,”
he emphasized.
He concluded: “If Rafał Trzaskowski were to become president, everything we have achieved over years of hard work would be undone.”
