Over 230 titles, incl. new films by Asghar Farhadi, Céline Sciamma, and Radu Jude will be presented at the 21st New Horizons International Film Festival in Wrocław. The event under the slogan “A Fresh Start for Cinema” will last until August 22 in the capital of Lower Silesia and online until August 29.
Marcin Pieńkowski, director of the festival, emphasized that after a year of absence of New Horizons in Wrocław, the most important thing is not only to be able to watch movies on the big screen but also to be together.
“Meeting the filmmakers and organizers with the audience is extremely important, and the magic happens primarily in theaters. Of course, we realize that we are not back to normality yet. It is difficult to call this upcoming edition as we did before the pandemic. The safety of our viewers is here an absolute priority. We have worked very hard to prepare for the festival in the best possible way in terms of safety. Our model was last year’s festival in Venice. Hence, this year many more screenings and more festival cinemas – not only the New Horizons cinema, the Lower Silesian Film Center, but also the Music Theater Capitol,” he said.
