From September 4 to November 14, a temporary exhibition devoted to Fryderyk Chopin will be open at the Royal Castle, where we will see, among others, the painting by Henryk Siemiradzki “Chopin in the salon of Prince Antoni Radziwiłł in 1829”. The exhibition will be accompanied by recitals by outstanding pianists: Szymon Nehring, Nikolay Khozyainov, and Philippe Giusiano.
The exhibition refers to an important institution in the social life of the nineteenth century, which was the living room – a space of refined taste, favorable to new phenomena and trends in art. Understanding them is essential to grasp the specificity of the epoch. It was when young artists could debut and develop, finding benevolent audiences and wealthy patrons among the elite.
The exhibition will show 47 works, including paintings, letters, musical manuscripts, and commemorative items related to the figure of Chopin. Particularly noteworthy are the composer’s nine musical autographs. These unique testimonies of the creative process document the crystallization of musical ideas and the process of transferring them to musical note sheets.
