    On September 30, the sale of tickets for the film shows of the 37th Warsaw Film Festival begins

    The 37th WFF will be held on October 8-17, in the traditional formula, in cinemas, with the participation of the audience and guests from Poland and abroad. The festival cinemas will be Kinoteka and Multikino Złote Tarasy.

    The program of the 37th WFF includes 168 films – 99 full-length and 69 short films – from 50 countries, including world, international and European premieres. Among others, films from Cannes and Venice will be shown, but most of the program are films selected from entries at the WFF.

    This year’s opening film will be “Captain Wołkonogow escaped”, dir. Natasha Merkulova, Aleksey Chupov, Russia, Estonia, France.

    It is a visually extraordinary and very original story about the pre-death marathon of repentance of the captain of the Soviet Security Services (NKVD) Fyodor Volkonogov. In the background, political persecution in the USSR in 1938. Premiere in a competition in Venice.

    On the other hand, the closing film will be the Bulgarian-French co-production “Women Cry”, dir. Vesela Kazakova, Mina Mileva.

    In the International Competition, which is the showpiece of the WFF, the main prize, the Warsaw Grand Prix, is funded by the President of Warsaw and totals PLN 100,000.
