    Polish ski jumpers still out of shape

    Piotr Żyła finished 11th in the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the second stage of the 4-Hills-Tournament. Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi won the competition and became the World Cup leader.

    The second place with a loss of 0.2 points went to German Markus Eisenbichler and Slovenian Lovro Kos was third. Kobayashi also triumphed in the first Four Hills Tournament competition in Oberstdorf. With his victory in Ga-Pa, the Japanese jumped up to first place in the overall World Cup ranking.

     

    Jakub Wolny, 27th after the first round, finished 23rd. Other Poles presented themselves disastrously and did not qualify for the finals. Dawid Kubacki (hill record holder in Ga-Pa, 144 m) reached 126 m and lost the competition in the pair with Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud, who reached 128 m. 

     

    Kamil Stoch reached only 118 m and was eliminated by Japanese Daiki Ito, who reached 127.5 m. Also, Andrzej Stękala could not qualify for the final round with 128 m. His rival Swiss Kilian Peier jumped 130.5 m.
