Iga Świątek easily advanced to the 1/8 final of the WTA tournament in Dubai. The Polish tennis player defeated Russian Daria Kasatkina 6:1, 6:2 in the opening set, which took her 65 minutes.
It was Iga Świątek’s first appearance since the January edition of the Grand Slam Australian Open. The 20-year-old, who reached the semifinals in Melbourne, has spent the last two weeks resting and training, the result of which was seen on Monday (Feb 14). The match was a bit tighter than the score would indicate.
Iga will meet her next opponent on Tuesday (Feb 15), when American Sofia Kenin and Latvian Julia Ostapenko will face each other. Magda Linette and Magdalena Fręch failed to make it through the three-round elimination in Dubai.
