Dr. Gizela Jagielska, the deputy director of the hospital in Oleśnica who recently performed a widely publicized late-term abortion, has long stirred controversy with her behavior and public statements. Her hateful and unethical online posts have drawn sharp criticism from celebrities, and even Gazeta Wyborcza—typically reserved in such matters—covered the scandal with outrage. Now, Jagielska’s past behavior is being brought up again. “The issue here isn’t just about medical ethics,” commented Klara Spurgjasz. “I get the impression that there’s also a serious issue with basic humanity.”
For several days now, the fallout from an act committed by the gynecologist at the Oleśnica hospital has not died down. Dr. Gizela Jagielska, who also serves as the hospital’s deputy director, performed an abortion at the 36th week of pregnancy. The justification for the procedure was a psychiatric assessment indicating a threat to the mother’s mental health. The procedure involved injecting potassium chloride directly into the fetus’s heart.
It turns out that this favorite of some leftist and pro-abortion circles has had difficulty in the past with judging the appropriateness of her public comments.
Celebrities Respond to Online Hate
The first major controversy at the Oleśnica hospital erupted in 2021 when Jagielska managed the “Babkibabkom” social media page as the official channel for the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology ward. While claiming to present “uncensored” insights into her department’s work, the page featured a hateful post about obesity in pregnant women. “Close the fridge and eat for two, not like two. You’ll make life easier for us and yourself,” Jagielska wrote.
Thousands of women on social media, along with celebrities such as Joanna Koroniewska, Zofia Zborowska, and Magda Mołek, rallied in defense of women. The Patient Rights Ombudsman also intervened. The hospital responded by labeling the matter as “fat-shaming” and shut down the discussion.
Even “Czerska” Had Enough
But that wasn’t the end. A subsequent post by Jagielska even drew attention from Gazeta Wyborcza, published by the media house on Czerska Street.
The deputy director maintained a social media presence where she posted “uncensored” commentary on gynecology. One such post was accompanied by a photo of a dead newborn.
“Sensitive individuals, those without a sense of humor or lacking distance from themselves and the world, are asked to close their browsers,” the caption read.
Czerska’s editorial team reported that the hospital’s board had “obliged the director to take effective steps to prevent Dr. Gizela Jagielska from publishing any content on behalf of the hospital on social media.”
