Investigation report: Smolensk Disaster as a result of unlawful interference [VIDEO]

On August 10, 2021, the Subcommittee for the Re-Investigation of the Smolensk Air Disaster investigated the cause of the accident of the aircraft TU-154M on April 10, 2010, over Smolensk North Airport in Russia as a result of unlawful interference, Antoni Macierewicz, the Deputy Chairman of PiS and head of the Subcommittee for the Re-Investigation of the Smolensk Air Disaster, said.

The Subcommittee for the Re-Investigation of the Smolensk Air Disaster presented the “Report on the Investigation of the Air Disaster of the Tu 154-M No. 101 aircraft over Smolensk North Airport on the territory of the Russian Federation.”

“On 10 August 2021, the Subcommittee for the Re-Investigation of the Smolensk Air Disaster (…) identified the cause of the incident, in which the aircraft TU-154M No. 101 of the Polish Air Force was involved, which took place on April 10, 2010, above Smolensk North Airport on the territory of Russian Federation as a result of an illegal intervention. The Subcommittee confirmed its decision in the Technical Report of 11 April 2018 to invalidate the final safety investigation report (…) of 29 July 2011,” Antoni Macierewicz, head of the Subcommittee for the Re-Investigation of the Smolensk Air Disaster, said.

As he said, the starting point of the Committee’s work was the analysis of the decision on the renovation of the TU-154M, followed by the preparations for the visit of the Polish delegation led by the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, the flight to Smolensk, the military activities and the Polish and Russian civil services.

“The subcommittee examined the history of the decommissioning and reading of cockpit conversations from recorders, as well as the recordings from flight recorders and their reliability (…) In the meantime, it was the last 20 seconds of flight TU-154M that determined the tragedy of Smolensk,” Macierewicz informed.

“The distribution of the wreckage of the aircraft throughout the area of destruction and the distribution of the bodies and fragments of fallen passengers were also reconstructed. Simulations and reconstructions of the explosions in the left wing and the centre, the reconstruction of the decay of individual parts of the aircraft and pyrotechnic experiments occupied an important place in the subcommission,” he added.

“The most important and indisputable proof of Russian interference was the explosion in the left-wing of the plane before crossing the Birch. The Subcommittee has located the location and time of the explosion. The next explosion occurred in the centre wing,” Macierewicz stressed.

“The materials that point to the crew’s mistakes were largely manipulated and developed for the purpose of falsified theories about the > armoured < birch,” he said.

The chairman of the committee reported how the TU154m exploded, which was the main cause of the crash over Smolensk Airport on 10 April 2010.

The explosion in the wing is confirmed by copies of the recordings of CVR, MŁP, ATM, IL and WAT experiments with the Tu-154M models, numerical analysis of millisecond noise, and CVR transcripts of IES and ABW in 2021 and explosion experiments of the subcommittee.

The destruction of the left-wing with an explosive device is illustrated in a video that compares the sound on CVR copies to the sound of an explosion during an experiment in which a model of a torsion box is cut with an explosive.
