Polish fighter jets to patrol Slovakia's airspace

Two Polish F-16 fighter jets will patrol the skies over Slovakia as part of the cooperation between the two countries’ air forces, Mariusz Blaszczak, the defence minister, said after a meeting with his Slovak counterpart Jaroslav Nad in Bratislava on Friday.

“We’re focused on security issues and to us, it is completely natural that an F-16 team will also patrol the skies over Slovakia,” Blaszczak said.

“The shifts will be carried out from Polish territory, but we have agreed that a Slovakian airfield will also be available just in case,” he added.

Slovakia is about to acquire its own F-16 fighters, so the two countries “are talking about further cooperation” in the area, Blaszczak went on to say.
