An unidentified flying object was found on Saturday near Bartoszyce – the Military Gendarmerie reported. It is likely a military-origin drone. According to TV Republika, the drone bore inscriptions in Russian.
The object was discovered in a field near the village of Osieka, approximately 20 km from the Polish-Russian border.
“Initial actions at the scene indicate that this is likely a military-origin drone intended for observation, without combat features,” said Lt. Col. Dariusz Rozkosz, spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Military Gendarmerie, in a statement.
He added that proceedings in the case are being conducted by the Military Gendarmerie under the supervision of the prosecutor from the 8th Military Affairs Division of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Olsztyn. Procedural activities are ongoing at the scene.
TV Republika reports that the drone has inscriptions in Russian. The device was reportedly equipped with a camera.
The report was received on Saturday morning by police in Bartoszyce from a person who found an object resembling a drone near the village of Osieka. “Officers confirmed that such an object was lying in the field. We secured the site. We notified other services, including the military and the prosecutor’s office,” said Sub-Inspector Marta Kabelis from the Bartoszyce police.
