In a dramatic turn of events, the first suspects in the case of a mugging involving a disabled man and the damaging of a vehicle driven by the father of the disabled man have been apprehended. The City Police Commander in Świnoujście wasted no time in submitting a request to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świnoujście for the imposition of the strictest preventive measure – temporary arrest – against the suspects. Further arrests have not been ruled out.
On August 19, 2023, the Officer on Duty at the City Police Headquarters in Świnoujście received a report of a mugging of a disabled man and the subsequent damage to a Volvo vehicle, which was being driven by the victim’s father. The disabled man was admitted to the hospital with multiple bodily injuries.
Swift action was taken by the police officers, leading to the identification and apprehension of two individuals, aged 18 and 25, both residents of Świnoujście.
The City Police Commander in Świnoujście swiftly forwarded a request to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świnoujście for the imposition of the strictest preventive measure – temporary arrest. The District Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation under Article 280§1 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 157§2 of the Criminal Code, related to Article 11§1 of the Criminal Code and Article 57a§1 of the Criminal Code. Following the investigation involving the suspects in the armed robbery, the District Prosecutor’s Office submitted a request to the District Court in Świnoujście for their temporary arrest for a period of two months. After reviewing the case materials, the District Court in Świnoujście aligned with the requests, resulting in the detention of the two men for the next two months.
The suspects could face a sentence ranging from 3 to even 12 years of imprisonment if convicted.
At present, the proceedings, in this case, are being carried out under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świnoujście. As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the motives behind this shocking incident that left a disabled man injured.
