Thinking of visiting London as a tourist or spending time with family in Manchester? Time is running out to enjoy hassle-free trips to the United Kingdom. Starting April 2025, Polish citizens will face new travel requirements under the UK’s updated immigration policies.
The UK is introducing the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system, a digital entry permit for visitors. Regardless of the purpose of travel—be it tourism, family visits, or business trips—all travelers will need to obtain this authorization before departure. The ETA system aims to simplify entry procedures while enhancing border security and addressing illegal immigration.
What is ETA?
Modeled after systems like ESTA in the US or eTA in Canada, the UK’s ETA requires travelers to apply online. Applications open on March 5, 2025, and involve:
• Filling out a form on the official government website or app.
• Providing personal details, including passport and travel information.
• Answering security-related questions.
• Paying a small administrative fee, estimated at £10–15.
Approval typically takes 48–72 hours, and the authorization will be valid for two years or until the associated passport expires. During this period, travelers can enter the UK multiple times, provided each stay doesn’t exceed six months.
With these changes looming, Polish citizens are advised to prepare for the new requirements to avoid disruptions to their travel plans.
