Your many years of social and civic engagement set an example for future generations of Poles and demonstrate that consistency, integrity, and concern for the common good are fundamental to building a strong state,” lawyers from the association Veritas et Ius in Service to the Nation wrote in a congratulatory message to Adam Borowski, the Law and Justice (PiS) candidate for the office of Poland’s Ombudsman.
Members of the Veritas et Ius in Service to the Nation association expressed both congratulations and support for Borowski’s candidacy.

Your many years of social and civic engagement set an example for future generations of Poles and demonstrate that consistency, integrity, and concern for the common good are fundamental to building a strong state,” the statement emphasized.
“We are convinced that your experience, moral authority, and deep understanding of citizens’ concerns make you the best candidate for this honorable and highly responsible office. Your life and achievements are an inspiration to all those who cherish truth, justice, and service to the Nation,” the lawyers added.
Record of Anti-Communist Opposition Activity
Adam Borowski (born 1955) is a distinguished anti-communist opposition activist who has been involved since the early 1980s in publishing and distributing underground press materials. He co-founded numerous trade union structures, including underground branches of the Inter-Enterprise Founding Committee of Solidarity (MZRK “Solidarity”).
Since 2005, he has served as Honorary Consul of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. Between 2008 and 2010, he was a social adviser to the Polish Ombudsman on issues concerning Chechen refugees.
Borowski is also the chairman of the Warsaw branch of the Gazeta Polska Clubs. He currently serves on the Council for Veterans, Victims of Repression, and Anti-Communist Opposition Activists under the President of Poland.
Current Ombudsman’s Term Nears Its End
The five-year term of the current Ombudsman, Marcin Wiącek, who took office in 2021, expires on July 23 this year. The deadline for submitting candidates for his successor is June 23.
Candidate Backed by the Governing Coalition
Among the other candidates mentioned so far is Sylwia Gregorczyk-Abram, known among other things for her involvement with the Free Courts initiative (Wolne Sądy) and the so-called “Entry” group, whose members allegedly planned a forceful takeover of the Polish Press Agency (PAP) in December 2023.
