On Wednesday, a shocking incident occurred in Góra, Lower Silesia, when a 28-year-old bus driver, Jakub G., deliberately crashed a school bus into a residential building. The bus was carrying 23 children and a caregiver at the time of the accident. According to Martyna Czerwińska of RMF FM, the driver, who was under the influence of drugs, ignored pleas from the children and caregiver to stop.
Authorities revealed that Jakub G. was driving at high speed, steering with one hand while talking on the phone. Despite crashing into a road sign and hitting another vehicle, he continued to drive recklessly through speed bumps before eventually crashing into a house. Four people were inside the building, but miraculously, no one, including the children on the bus, was injured.
The driver was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana. He faces charges of intentionally causing a road catastrophe, endangering many lives, driving under the influence of drugs, and drug possession. While he admitted to his actions, claiming they were driven by a “higher force,” his mental state at the time is under investigation.
Jakub G. has been arrested for three months and could face up to 10 years in prison.
