Prosecutors in Gdansk announced on Thursday that a Russian citizen with permanent residence in Poland has been accused of undertaking espionage activities on behalf of the Russian intelligence services from 2015 to 2022.
A man, who had been residing in Poland for many years, is accused of using his links to the Polish military to organise historical reenactment events, and to convey confidential information regarding the whereabouts, apparatus, and personnel levels of the Polish armed forces to the Russians.
Prosecutors have said his activities were mainly concentrated in north-eastern Poland.
A Russian individual, who remains unnamed, might be accused of bribery related to custom dues for goods acquired for commercial purposes. In addition, three Poles have been indicted in connection to this case.
The man was arrested last April and remains in detention.
