Civic Platform “boasts” about fighting illegal migration. Internet users: You’ve got the wrong border

Civic Platform, the largest party in the current ruling coalition, has spoken out on the issue of migration. However, instead of addressing the real problems currently unfolding in western Poland, their rather shallow post focuses on… the Belarusian border. Internet users were quick to react.

In recent weeks, reports have been coming in from various Polish towns about illegal migrants walking the streets—or being placed in facilities unsuited for their stay, such as children’s homes, where some foreigners are said to behave disruptively and try to impose their own rules. All of this is happening due to migrants being brought into Poland by German authorities.

Yesterday, one such incident was captured by a reporter from Republika TV:

While the Polish government fails to act to protect the safety of Poles from the influx of migrants, the Border Defense Movement has taken matters into its own hands. This growing movement of patriots regularly reports new cases requiring intervention.

Civic Platform tries to divert attention
Statements from Tomasz Siemoniak, head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, aimed at “reassuring” Poles, seem ineffective. That’s why Civic Platform’s social media team decided to step in.

“What are we doing to combat uncontrolled migration?” reads their post, accompanied by a graphic. However, the three vague points listed in the graphic focus solely on the Polish-Belarusian border—the same border where, just a few years ago under the United Right government, no major issues were reported.

Commenters online were blunt: “You’ve mixed up the borders.”

Tomek Niszpor (@NiszporTomek):
“And not a word about the western border, the Germans do whatever they want.”

Robert Szcześniak (@Kamaz1973):
“It’s about the western border, not the eastern one. The previous government had that one under control.”

Emdewhy (@emdewhy):
“No change in the west.”

Tomek Niszpor (@NiszporTomek):
“You let them in and then spread them across Poland.”
