In the context of Włodzimierz Czarzasty’s visit to Ukraine, the issue of his earlier opposition to measures concerning support for Kyiv has resurfaced. Meanwhile, following the NATO summit in Newport, Law and Justice (PiS) politicians spoke openly about the need to supply weapons. “There is nothing improper about delivering weapons to Ukraine,” Jacek Saryusz-Wolski emphasized yesterday.
As Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, visits Ukraine, attention is once again being drawn to the positions taken by Polish Members of the European Parliament regarding arms deliveries to Kyiv.
On the program “Fakty po Faktach,” Jacek Saryusz-Wolski stated that “the West should copy Putin’s method and supply Ukraine with weapons while simultaneously denying it.”
“I believe this scenario is already being implemented,”
he added.
He stressed that at the Newport summit, NATO sent an “encouraging signal” for individual states to take action in this matter. In his view, a coalition of the “capable and willing” has emerged, including Norway, Italy, France, the United States, and Poland.
“There is nothing wrong with delivering weapons to Ukraine. Why should we condemn Ukraine to an unequal fight?”
Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said.
A similar position was expressed by Ryszard Czarnecki of PiS. In his opinion, the NATO summit in Newport gave a “green light” for such actions.
“More courageous countries will probably be quietly supported by those that, due to their very close economic ties with Russia, will not want to do so formally,”
he stated.
He emphasized that, for Poland, the situation in Ukraine is not a distant issue. “By necessity, our role in this area must be greater,” he said, noting that the aim is to prevent the Russians from “coming too close to Poland.”
