Defenders of Poland’s Borders Meet in the Sejm

Yesterday, the first meeting of the parliamentary team “Border Defence Movement” (“Ruch Obrony Granic”) was held in the Sejm. During the gathering of activists and politicians, harsh criticism was directed at the government of Donald Tusk. “The Border Guard under the rule of the December 13 coalition is not in good shape,” said Mariusz Błaszczak, chairman of the PiS parliamentary club.

Tusk Is Submissive to the Germans

Błaszczak did not limit his criticism to the state of the Border Guard. He also aimed his remarks at the Prime Minister, accusing him of downplaying the issue for a long time by claiming that nothing was happening on the Polish-German border. When the situation could no longer be concealed, he ordered inspections to begin.

“Can Donald Tusk, who is so submissive to Germany, give an order to return the migrants that are being pushed into Poland from the German side? No, he cannot (…) That is the problem of the Republic of Poland — that our country is governed by such an appalling administration,” said Błaszczak.

The head of the PiS club emphasised that the border checks were the result of pressure from activists within the Border Defence Movement. Due to their efforts, the government could no longer cover up the issue.

“It turned out that pressure works. Donald Tusk announced that border controls are necessary. So at first he said that what the BDM claimed wasn’t true, and then he implemented the checks. He even deployed the Polish Army. So I ask: is there a threat or not? Of course there is,” Błaszczak said.

Border Defence Movement: More Than Just Defending Geographic Borders

Robert Bąkiewicz, the initiator and leader of the Border Defence Movement, shared information about the difficult circumstances his colleagues are facing on the ground. He mentioned activists from Słubice who, at the moment he was speaking, were being identified and removed from the vicinity of the border.

“Right now, volunteers are being forcibly removed in Słubice (…) These people weren’t breaking the law; they were exercising their rights — even their constitutional duties — to defend the borders,” Bąkiewicz stated.

He emphasised that the BDM is not an enemy of the Border Guard officers.

“It is from them that we receive anonymous information about the situation within the Border Guard — where crimes occur and where the Polish state shows submission to Germany,” he said.

Bąkiewicz stressed that the mission of the BDM goes beyond monitoring and defending the borders. It also includes broader initiatives aimed at preventing the implementation of the EU migration pact in Poland.

“BDM is not just about a geographic border; it’s a movement that was created to stop mass migration and the migration pact. And that is what we will do,” he declared.
