One internet user claimed that the new Minister of Justice, Waldemar Żurek, once kept a… crocodile at home. The story was picked up by TV Republika reporter Adrian Borecki. The station’s report has been covered by other media outlets, including Onet and Wirtualna Polska (WP). “We’ll keep digging into this. We’re not dropping the subject,” announced TV Republika president Tomasz Sakiewicz.
Did Żurek keep a crocodile at home?
A user of the X platform, Jack Strong, recently published a post about the “unusual hobby of Minister Żurek.”
“At some point, the minister decided not to keep a cat or a dog at home – but… a crocodile. Yes. A real one. With teeth. The kind that doesn’t fetch but keeps excellent social distance,” the post reads.
It was noted that “at first, the animal had decent conditions: maybe not the Nile, but there was a bathtub – the wife was furious because the creature refused to be bathed.”
“Unfortunately, life (as it does) threw the minister a few curveballs. The crocodile – an uninvited witness to family turmoil – ended up in the basement. Damp, dark. Eventually, the animal died. And the minister, unwilling to part with his companion, decided… to have it stuffed,” concluded Jack Strong.
TV Republika reporter Adrian Borecki took on the story. The journalist attempted to contact the politician to verify whether the claims made by the internet user were true. Unfortunately, the Minister of Justice did not find time to respond.
Soon after, critical articles about the Republika report appeared in outlets such as Onet, WP, and Fakt. The first of these published an article describing TV Republika’s material on Waldemar Żurek as “bizarre.”
Sakiewicz: The crocodile issue set the media world on fire
Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of TV Republika, addressed the matter today in the “Po 11” program.
“Adrian Borecki, with the help of artificial intelligence, showed what it might have looked like in the bathtub 20 years ago. The crocodile issue has set the media world on fire. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing. Everyone’s writing about the crocodile, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll keep digging into this. We’re not dropping the subject,” he said.
