Duda: “Donald Tusk’s government has shown weakness in international policy”

Former President of Poland Andrzej Duda was a guest of Tomasz Sakiewicz on Sunday on Political Coffee. The topic of the conversation was a summary of the outgoing year in international policy from the perspective of the president and the government. “This has been a year of incredible weakness shown by Tusk’s government in international policy,” Andrzej Duda noted.

Another test of the Polish state’s resilience

The conversation on Political Coffee began with the issue of so-called smuggling balloons, which entered Poland from the territory of Belarus a few days ago.

“This is another test of the resilience and readiness to carry out the basic tasks related to the security and defense of our state. Those in power are talking nonsense and were unable to deal with this problem, because it is generally very difficult. We all found out that we do not have anti-drone protection in Poland, and now it turns out that we also do not have effective protection against objects such as balloons entering our airspace,” Andrzej Duda emphasized.

President Nawrocki has taken care of good Polish-American relations

In a conversation with the head of TV Republika, Andrzej Duda summed up the outgoing year in international policy.

“President Karol Nawrocki has carried out his task excellently. It can be said with full confidence that he has arranged relations with President Donald Trump, thereby building, or extending, very good relations with the United States,” the former President of the Republic of Poland noted.

In Andrzej Duda’s opinion, when it comes to the other side – the government – this year we clearly observed the complete sidelining of Donald Tusk on the international stage. While he tried to push his way into issues of European security by forcing himself into quasi-NATO formats, which normally should be the domain of the president, in the end he was in fact pushed out of them.

“When we observe the recent meetings that took place regarding Ukraine, organized either by President Emmanuel Macron or by Prime Minister Starmer, we see that Donald Tusk is not at the negotiating table, and this is disastrous news for Poland. In this European space, above all within the European Union, where he himself announced that he would shine in the salons and said that we here form a team that no one can defeat, it turns out that they are not at the table at all – so what are we even talking about. This is absolutely disastrous news for Poland, we should be present here and there,” Duda emphasized.
