Election Code Controversy in Poland: The PLN 3.6 Million Dilemma Facing Law and Justice

Poland’s State Election Commission has rejected the financial report of the Law and Justice committee and alleged irregularities in the political parties’ campaign financing to the tune of 3.6 million zloty. As a result, Law and Justice will have to return the disputed sum, or 3.6 million zloty, to the State Treasury. Those in power have been publicly arguing for weeks that such a decision is correct and have outdone themselves in searching for alleged irregularities. However, many members of the State Election Commission, as well as the chairman himself, had doubts about the correctness of such a decision. Why do such decisions violate the Election Code?
