EuroSkills Gdańsk 2023 brings together 578 young professionals from 32 countries, fostering skills that benefit education and the broader economy.
A Unique Gathering of Young Professionals
The EuroSkills Gdańsk 2023 competition kicked off on September 6th, featuring 578 young professionals from 32 countries competing in 42 different skills disciplines. Supported by trainers and 500 experts in their respective fields, this event promises significant benefits for both education and the broader economy.
A Platform for Skill Development
This year’s EuroSkills is especially significant as it aligns with the European Commission’s “Year of Skills.” The accompanying International Education Congress on September 7th will explore the effective integration of the economy, business, the Green Deal, and the job market with the world of education. Nicolas Schmit, EU Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, is a special guest.
Experts Fostering Excellence
Crucial to the EuroSkills ecosystem are the experts from WorldSkills Europe, representing their respective countries and assisting competitors by sharing their experiences and skills. Each of the 42 competitions requires a dedicated team of experts, workshop managers, and volunteers.
Skills That Benefit All Sectors
The impact of EuroSkills extends far beyond the realm of education; it benefits entire sectors of the economy. Highly specialized workers are in demand throughout Europe, and competitions like EuroSkills ensure that these skills are nurtured and developed.
Stress, Strain, and Success
Competitors must demonstrate both individual and team technical skills over three days, working within strict timeframes and utilizing cutting-edge machinery. They also learn to handle the pressure, as these events draw significant audiences, adding an extra layer of stress.
A Global Learning Community
EuroSkills Gdańsk 2023 isn’t just about competition; it’s about mutual learning. Organizers of future EuroSkills events, such as Denmark in 2025 and Germany in 2027 (with Luxembourg), have taken inspiration from this year’s event. This knowledge-sharing reinforces the WorldSkills community’s strength and benefits all its members.
