The name of Polish actor Cezary Pazura has been immortalized in the cosmos as the designation for a newly named asteroid located in the main asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
Discovered by Polish astronomers Michał Kusiak and Michał Żołnowski in 2013, the asteroid was initially known as 2013 AS24. It has now been officially named (669588) Pazura by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), following the established protocol for naming celestial objects.
In the same bulletin announcing (669588) Pazura, two other asteroids related to Poland were named: (319636) Dziewulski and (191775) Poczobut, honoring Polish astronomers Władysław Dziewulski and Marcin Poczobutt-Odlanicki, respectively.
