Fans Boo Tusk in Kaunas: Civic Platform Cries About ‘Brutal Language’ While Shouting ‘F*** PiS!’

Who is really responsible for the brutalization of language in Polish politics? Former Minister of Digital Affairs Janusz Cieszyński answered that question bluntly, pointing out that it is the politicians of Civic Platform (PO) who lead in this respect. “Let me remind you, this is a party whose prominent members literally write ‘F*** PiS’ on their foreheads,” he stressed.

Polish football fans who arrived in Lithuania’s capital created an incredible atmosphere. For the full 90 minutes, the away section was a constant source of loud and passionate support for the national team. “If I were born again, Poland, I’d give you my life once more,” echoed through the stands in Kaunas. The intensity of the cheering made the Polish players feel as though they were playing on home turf.

When Prime Minister Donald Tusk appeared in the stadium, the reaction of the fans was unambiguous. The head of government was greeted with loud boos and harsh chants. “Donald, you moron, the hooligans will topple your government!” supporters chanted from the moment he entered the stands. During the match, vulgar slogans directed at the prime minister appeared, along with a banner reading, “You are not, never were, and never will be a supporter of Poland’s national team.”

When asked who is responsible for the coarsening of public discourse, Janusz Cieszyński reiterated that Civic Platform politicians are at the forefront.

“Let me remind you — this is a party whose prominent figures proudly write the slogan ‘F*** PiS’ on their foreheads. I’ll also remind you that these are the people who celebrated birthdays, like then-party leader Borys Budka, with cakes decorated with eight stars symbolizing that same phrase. And now they suddenly pretend to be shocked and concerned about the brutalization of language in public debate,” he emphasized.

He added, “It’s worth recalling who created the industry of contempt, who invented these vulgar slogans, who led thousands of people through the streets of Warsaw carrying them.”

“This is the environment of Civic Platform and Donald Tusk,” he concluded.
