General Kukuła: “We Are the Generation That Will Defend Our Nation”

During the inauguration of the academic year at the Military University of Land Forces in Wrocław, General Wiesław Kukuła, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, made a powerful statement. He emphasized that the current generation must be prepared to defend Poland with weapons in hand, should the need arise. His speech highlighted the critical importance of building a military force capable of facing future threats.

The Need for Universal Military Service

General Kukuła pointed to the need for a universal military service model, encompassing professional soldiers, reservists, and members of the Territorial Defense Forces. He stressed that Poland must develop a much larger military to counter external threats. Citing examples from the U.S. military, he encouraged the adoption of systems that enhance recruitment and talent discovery within the armed forces.

The university’s Rector, General Marek Tomaszycki, underscored the need to maintain high-quality training and develop new academic programs. Plans include establishing research centers focused on modern warfare technologies, such as unmanned systems, and expanding training facilities.

General Kukuła concluded by thanking cadets for their efforts during recent flood relief operations, recognizing their dedication to both military and civil duties.
