The government has taken an alarming and unjust step by sending the Internal Security Agency (ABW) after Volunteer Fire Department (OSP) units. These brave men and women, who dedicate themselves to protecting Polish citizens, are now under investigation simply for participating in a grant program to obtain much-needed rescue equipment. Authorities claim they are looking into alleged financial irregularities related to the KGHM Miedź Foundation, but many believe this is nothing more than politically motivated intimidation.
A Political Witch Hunt?
To many, this move reeks of a political attack on grassroots organizations that refuse to align with the ruling coalition. Instead of supporting those who risk their lives to keep communities safe, the government is choosing to harass them. Punishing volunteer firefighters for seeking funding to improve their life-saving services is not just unfair—it’s absurd.
PiS Steps in to Defend Firefighters
In response to this disgraceful overreach, Law and Justice (PiS) has stepped in to support the firefighters. Mariusz Błaszczak, chairman of the PiS parliamentary club, quickly announced that the party would provide legal assistance to those affected. His strong statement—“The Tusk team will not destroy the OSP – we will not allow it!”—sends a clear message that PiS stands with those who serve Poland selflessly.
