The 101st birthday of a Polish veteran who fought with the British in Monte Cassino is celebrated today, January 2. Happy Birthday, Col Otton Hulacki!
Col Otton Hulacki belonged to the “Orląt” organisation at the Riflemen’s Association, where he later was an instructor. In November 1939, he was sworn in as a member of the ‘Service for Poland’s Victory’.
In March 1942 he joined the ranks of the Polish Army in the East under the command of General Anders, in the 6th Armored Regiment “Children of Lwów”.
In 1944 he was transferred to the 2nd Warsaw Armored Brigade, with which he took part in the battles for, among others, Monte Cassino, Bologna and Ancona.
