Investigation against Rammstein’s Till Lindemann: Will the Concerts in Poland Proceed as Planned?

The Berlin prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation in response to allegations against Till Lindemann, the lead vocalist of the renowned band Rammstein. The spokesperson for the Berlin prosecutor’s office confirmed that Lindemann is being accused of coercing individuals into sexual acts and supplying drugs.

According to the spokesperson, the investigation was launched following several notifications filed by third parties unrelated to the case, as well as by the Berlin prosecutor’s office itself. Due to the need to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and the personal rights of potentially affected individuals, no further information can be disclosed at this time, the spokesperson added.

Berliner Zeitung,” “Bild,” and “Tagesspiegel” have reported that the investigation concerns suspicions of committing offenses under Article 177 of the Criminal Code, which relates to sexual assault, coercion into sexual acts, or rape.

Several German media outlets have conducted their own investigations since late May. “Welt am Sonntag” published the results of its journalistic inquiry at the beginning of June. Several women testified that they had been drugged during Rammstein concerts and had fallen victim to sexual assaults. The NDR, WDR, and “Sueddeutsche Zeitung” portals have also reached out to women who made similar allegations against Lindemann.

On June 8th, Lindemann’s lawyers issued a statement vehemently denying the claims that “women at Rammstein concerts were drugged with rape drugs or alcohol to facilitate any sexual activities with Lindemann.” “These accusations are consistently false. We will take immediate legal action against individuals making such allegations,” they warned.

Last week, Rammstein performed four concerts at a stadium in Munich. Additional concerts are scheduled to take place in Berlin on July 15th, 16th, and 18th. The band is also set to perform in Chorzów, Poland, on July 30th and 31st.

At present, the ongoing investigation has not led to any cancellations by the organizers, according to information obtained by “Tagesspiegel.”
