    Janusz Filipiak, Former President of Cracovia, Passes Away at 71

    Tragic news emerged from Krakow today as Janusz Filipiak, former president of Cracovia, has passed away at the age of 71. Filipiak had been hospitalized at the end of September before succumbing to his illness.

    “With deep sadness, we inform about the death of Professor Janusz Filipiak, co-founder of Comarch, an outstanding Polish scholar, entrepreneur, and football enthusiast,” stated Comarch on Sunday.

    “We mourn the loss of this very special individual, an exceptional mind and visionary, who uniquely contributed to the development of the Polish IT industry. The professor will remain in the hearts of the entire Cracovia team and all associates,” the club’s statement reads.

    Filipiak was born on August 3, 1952. He was a professor, doctor, and habilitated in technical sciences at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Additionally, he authored books in the field of teleinformatics. In 1993, he founded Comarch and later, 11 years after its inception, became the owner and president of Cracovia.
