K2 Black Panther Tanks Delivered to Braniewo Military Unit

The first K2 Black Panther tanks have arrived at the military unit in Braniewo, marking a significant upgrade for Poland’s armed forces. These advanced South Korean tanks are equipped with state-of-the-art defense systems, precision targeting, and superior mobility, making them suitable for challenging terrains like northeastern Poland. The deal, signed in 2022, also includes plans to localize production in Poland, aiming to create a regional hub for Korean military equipment.

    Enhanced Capabilities for Modern Warfare

The K2 tanks, powered by a 1,500-horsepower diesel engine, weigh 55 tons and feature hydropneumatic suspension for increased agility. These machines are designed to counter missile and anti-tank threats effectively, ensuring battlefield dominance. In Braniewo, the initial batch includes seven tanks, with more expected soon. Eight trained crews are already prepared to operate these sophisticated machines.

This delivery is part of a larger agreement between Poland and South Korea, which also covers FA-50 fighter jets and K9 howitzers. Plans are underway to launch Polish production of the K2 by 2026, aligning with Poland’s goal to become a regional maintenance hub for Korean military systems.
