Law and Justice (PiS) MP Sebastian Kaleta, during a press conference in front of Warsaw City Hall, sharply criticized the authorities of the capital in connection with the scandal involving Civic Platform (KO) councillor Dawid Kacprzyk at the Southern Hospital. The politician is demanding the resignation of those responsible for overseeing the facility and the convening of an extraordinary session of the Warsaw City Council.
“All of Poland is shocked”
In front of Warsaw City Hall, politicians from Law and Justice (PiS) referred to reports concerning the scandalous functioning of the Southern Hospital. Sebastian Kaleta stated that the disclosed information has shocked public opinion and requires immediate action from the city authorities.
Kaleta pointed out that the matter is generating huge emotions, especially in the context of problems within the Polish healthcare system:
“For several days now, all of Poland has been shocked by what is happening at the Southern Hospital. First, we heard about a very young activist of Civic Platform who was supposed to have earned 1.5 million zlotys in just one year and served as the coordinator of the emergency department. But yesterday, even more outrageous information emerged. It turns out that this young man, according to reports, was supposed to coordinate a VIP lounge for Civic Platform activists”, said the Law and Justice (PiS) MP.
The politician also commented on a special “VIP room” for ruling politicians in the hospital:
“These reports are shocking above all because Poles are witnessing the collapse of the healthcare system. Appointments with specialists are being canceled, the National Health Fund is underfunded, and people are not receiving the treatment they need. Unless they belong to Civic Platform in Warsaw”, Kaleta stated.
The Law and Justice (PiS) MP announced specific actions by the Warsaw opposition:
“There has truly not been such a story and such a scandal for many years. That is why we have gathered here as the Warsaw opposition, as Warsaw Law and Justice, to inform what actions we are initiating to resolve this problem and hold those responsible for this scandal accountable. First and foremost, we demand the resignation of those responsible for supervising the Southern Hospital. This concerns primarily Ms. Renata Kaznowska, deputy to Rafał Trzaskowski. We also demand the immediate dismissal and depoliticization of the hospital’s supervisory board”, he said.
Kaleta also drew attention to the presence of Civic Platform (KO) local government officials in the supervisory bodies of the facility:
“It cannot be the case that there is a major scandal in a hospital belonging to the Capital City of Warsaw, supervised by politicians, and politicians bear no responsibility for what is happening there. This responsibility should be twofold. If someone says they knew nothing, then the question arises: what were they doing on the supervisory board?”, asked the Law and Justice (PiS) politician.
