Małgorzata Bogajewska Receives “Gloria Artis” Medal for Contribution to Polish Theatre

Małgorzata Bogajewska, the artistic director of Teatr Ludowy in Krakow, has been honored with the Silver Medal “Gloria Artis” for her significant contributions to Polish theatre. Her recognition comes hot on the heels of the premiere of “As You Like It,” directed by Maćko Prusak.

Bogajewska’s journey began with her directorial debut as a student with “The Return” by Jerzy Łukosz at Lubuski Theatre in Zielona Góra (2001). With over 50 theatrical productions to her credit, including notable works like “Tlen” at Teatr Powszechny in Warsaw (2003) and “Dog’s Will” at Teatr Polski in Bydgoszcz (2005), Bogajewska has established herself as a prominent figure in Polish theatre.

In 2021, she was honored with the prestigious Zygmunt Hübner Award for her outstanding contributions to theatre. Her directorial prowess was further showcased in November 2023 with the highly acclaimed production of “Tales from the Vienna Woods” by Ödön von Horváth at the National Theatre in Warsaw.

Bogajewska served as the artistic director of Scena Dramatyczna at Teatr Jeleniogórski im. Cypriana Kamila Norwida from 2004 to 2006. Since September 1, 2016, she has been at the helm of Teatr Ludowy in Krakow.
