As we reported earlier, on Wednesday schools and kindergartens across Poland received messages containing threats about explosive devices. “Data regarding these alerts is still coming in,” the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA) stated. A Belarusian angle is also being examined in the case.
According to information obtained from units subordinate to the MSWiA, Poland is facing a wave of mass bomb threats in cities including Warsaw, Łódź, Lublin, Kraków, Poznań, Szczecin, and Wrocław. Data on these incidents continues to be collected. The threat notifications sent to educational institutions are assessed as having very low credibility and are considered an example of a cascading alarm. Nevertheless, swift and decisive measures have been taken to ensure the safety of all individuals present in public buildings, the ministry’s media department said.
Messages Signed “Misha”
As a reminder, the portal Niezalezna.pl reported earlier today that, in addition to Warsaw, emails were also sent to institutions in Szczecin, Lublin, and Wrocław. In some cases, evacuations of children were ordered, and parents were instructed to pick them up. The facilities are being inspected by emergency services.
All indications suggest that the operation may be another provocation originating from Russia. Its aim is believed to be to sow discord between Polish society and the Belarusian minority, as well as to undermine trust in uniformed services. According to Niezalezna.pl, the possibility of a hybrid attack from across Poland’s eastern border is being thoroughly investigated by security services.
The emails were signed “Misha,” who claims to be Belarusian. They were sent to institutions in the capital before 4:00 a.m. The messages—written in English and Belarusian—contain not only threats of explosive devices but also political content. They include accusations of brutality by the Border Guard and of “pushing people back” across the border through forests. The sender also demands that the government “stop deporting Belarusians.”
