Millions of dollars to overthrow governments in Poland and Hungary. Strong words about Soros

“Wow. Such philanthropy. You gave $7 million dollars to Barack Obama so his foundation can topple stable governments in Poland and Hungary to profit his Microsoft corporate donors,” wrote Mike Benz, head of the Foundation for Freedom Online, to Alex Soros.

Millions of dollars to overthrow governments in Poland and Hungary

Forbes published a report on the “25 Best Philanthropists in America.” George Soros ranked fifth. As noted in the publication, the Open Society Foundations, chaired by his son Alex, donated over $1 billion in 2024 to organizations working for justice and human rights. Of that amount, as much as $7 million went to the Barack Obama Foundation.

Referring to the article, Alex Soros stated that “every day he is a proud chair of Open Society and a proud son of George Soros.”

“Throughout his life, my father has devoted the vast majority of his wealth to promoting justice, equality, human rights, and democratic practices around the world. The work matters. The work continues”, he added.

Mike Benz, head of the Foundation for Freedom Online, responded to his post.

“Wow. What philanthropy. You gave $7 million to Barack Obama so his foundation could overthrow stable governments in Poland and Hungary, for the benefit of his corporate donors from Microsoft”, he emphasized. He also pointed out that “Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer from Microsoft donated over $100 million to the Obama Foundation to destroy the right-wing party in Poland.”

“Meanwhile, Microsoft could earn tens of billions of dollars if this Obama-led regime change proves successful. What philanthropy!”, he concluded.

Benz also recalled how Brussels froze tens of billions of euros for Poland over the alleged “rule of law violations” by the Law and Justice (PiS) government. The funds were immediately unblocked after Donald Tusk returned to power.

These funds are currently being allocated, among other things, to infrastructure, digital transformation, and the green transition. A significant portion must go toward expanding broadband internet, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. These are areas where Microsoft can win contracts or increase the use of its products.

Pro-turnout actions by foundations funded by Soros in 2025

The Niezależna.pl portal reported in April 2025, shortly before the presidential elections, that foundations financed with money from businessman George Soros were joining so-called “pro-turnout actions.”

It was pointed out that one such organization, Association 61, during the presidential campaign “prepared informational and mobilizing content” aimed at voters, mainly aged 18-35. These included candidate comparisons, reports from campaign rallies, guides, and an election calendar, and just before the elections – a “views comparison tool.” The president of Association 61 is Róża Rzeplińska – the daughter of Andrzej Rzepliński, former president of the Constitutional Tribunal, who was appointed to that position in 2010 by Bronisław Komorowski.

One of the organization’s main donors for years has been George Soros, who supports it through entities he finances, including the Stefan Batory Foundation. In 2024, Association 61 received a grant of 300,000 zlotys from the Stefan Batory Foundation “for the operation, development, and strengthening of the MamPrawoWiedziec.pl service.”
