“Model allies deserve model treatment”: U.S. to send 5,000 more troops to Poland

“President Trump is a man of his word,” U.S. Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose wrote on social media after Trump announced the deployment of an additional 5,000 American troops to Poland.

“Based on the successful Election of the now President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, who I was proud to Endorse, and our relationship with him, I am pleased to announce that the United States will be sending an additional 5,000 Troops to Poland. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President Donald J. Trump,” the U.S. president wrote late Thursday evening, Polish time, on the Truth Social platform.

“President Trump is a man of his word,” Ambassador Tom Rose wrote in response to the post.

He also recalled remarks Trump made two weeks earlier, when, answering reporters’ questions, he said it was possible that troops withdrawn from Germany could be redeployed to Poland.

“Poland would like that. We have a great relationship with Poland. I have a great relationship with the President. Remember, I endorsed him? He won even though he started from far behind. He’s a great fighter, a great guy. I like him very much, so it’s possible,” the U.S. president said at the time.

Republican Congressman Don Bacon said the move was good news for Poland and the Baltic states.

This is good news for Poland and our Baltic allties. I’m glad the President reversed the SecDef decision to withdraw the Brigade from Poland. Poland walks the talk and deserves our close partnership,” wrote Bacon, a former U.S. Air Force officer and former commander at Ramstein Air Base.

Meaghan Mobbs, President of the Romulus T. Weatherman Foundation, said that “model allies deserve model treatment.”

Kristina Wong, special adviser to the U.S. Secretary of War, also published a post praising Polish-American relations.

Conservative journalist Eric Daugherty pointed out that the decision came “after Trump withdrew 5,000 troops from Germany once Merz betrayed us.”
