He has been banned from approaching border crossings closer than one kilometer. In the case of cardboard scythes and the slogan “Scythes at the ready,” the prosecutor’s office is checking whether he was inciting crime. His statements about German policy and illegal immigrants have been classified as “incitement to hatred on the grounds of national differences.” Investigators are pursuing Robert Bąkiewicz in Warsaw, Szczecin, Zamość, Radom, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Wałbrzych, Słubice, and Bogatynia. In total, more than 30 investigations. The authorities, in trying to intimidate the leader of the Border Defense Movement (ROG), are spectacularly making fools of themselves.
Waldemar Fydrych, the legendary “Major” of the Orange Alternative, in the second half of the 1980s effectively ridiculed communism also because the authorities responded to his happenings with grotesque repression. Today he admits he has respect for Bąkiewicz’s actions and for the impressive list of the authorities’ repressions. “This courtroom farce is supposed to intimidate Robert Bąkiewicz, who has grown into a folk hero, but in reality it ridicules the petty-bourgeois mentality of those who are organizing this idiotic witch hunt,” “Major” told Gazeta Polska.
The forbidden question about honor
It must be acknowledged that investigators from Gorzów Wielkopolski did everything they could not to be drawn into the farce of actions against Bąkiewicz that would make them look ridiculous.
First, both the case officer and the deputy district prosecutor agreed that there were no grounds to bring charges. The prosecutor went on leave. Then the substitute prosecutor received an order from the supervising Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin, instructing him to press charges. “It cannot be that there is evidence and no reaction from the prosecutor. It also cannot be that officers carry out their duties and are then belittled or that someone interferes with their duties,” lectured Jadwiga Kołakowska-Gorczyńska, head of the Szczecin prosecutor’s office, in an interview with Oko.press.
The prosecutor from Gorzów did not give up. He appealed to the illegal National Prosecutor, Dariusz Korneluk. He demanded that the case be reassigned. Nothing helped – the usurper Korneluk upheld the order. And under pressure from headquarters, the Gorzów prosecutor’s office charged Bąkiewicz with insulting two officers of the Border Guard and two officers of the Military Gendarmerie on June 28, 2025, at the border crossing in Słubice.
The alleged evidence of insulting officers is a video in which Bąkiewicz approaches them and asks for their names and ranks. He warns that “orders that strike at the Polish interest are not orders an officer should carry out.” The officers reply that they are acting in accordance with the law.
Bąkiewicz asks, “In accordance with what law, that Germany sends you people and you act here as taxis? Do you have any honor at all?”
He then speaks about letting in illegal immigrants: “You are not supposed to accept them from Germany. We are no German footstool. This is Poland, this is not Germany… One does not carry out orders that disgrace the Polish uniform… The fact that madmen command you does not mean you have to carry out those orders.” The words “You are traitors and you will be held accountable for this” do not appear in the video, but the prosecutor’s office claims that Bąkiewicz… uttered them later.
A pedophile cannot approach within 100 meters, Bąkiewicz within a kilometer
“Insulting an officer” is one of the provisions most frequently used to repress the opposition since the times of the Orange Alternative. But this time the authorities are going to an unprecedented extreme – they additionally classify the cited words as a hooligan act, which raises the potential penalty to up to one and a half years in prison. Under the law, a hooligan act is one committed “without reason or for an obviously trivial reason, thereby showing gross disregard for the legal order.” What must one have in mind to consider opposing illegal immigration a trivial or non-existent reason?
As a result, Bąkiewicz must report to the police station twice a week. He is also obliged to inform the authorities about leaving his place of residence for a longer period and about his date of return. And the best part: he has been banned from approaching border crossings along the entire German border closer than one kilometer. Similar bans are imposed on husbands who use violence against their wives or on pedophiles who are prohibited from approaching their victims. One can sarcastically note that even pedophiles have often been ordered to keep a distance of 100 meters, but not a kilometer!
“The border cannot be called as a witness and change its testimony under my influence,” Robert Bąkiewicz laughs. Absolutely all journalists see the stupidity of this order and everyone knows that it is about making protests by the Border Defense Movement (ROG) more difficult, but despite this, they describe the ban with full seriousness.
Bąkiewicz ridiculed the ban by showing up at the border post… from the German side, since the ban issued by the Polish prosecutor’s office applies only on Polish territory. The Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSW) spokesperson Karolina Gałecka threatened that nevertheless the prosecutor’s office would check whether he had broken the law.
He is not opposed to German policy or illegal immigration, he just… hates
Equally absurd is the charge against Bąkiewicz of inciting hatred, between June 19, 2025, and July 18, 2025, on the grounds of national, ethnic, and racial differences by posting statements on the X platform and giving interviews on YouTube that allegedly aroused and intensified strong feelings of dislike and hostility toward people of German nationality and toward immigrants.
The prosecutor’s office accepted the claims of the organization Action Democracy (Akcja Demokracja) in this matter. Anyone can read those posts and watch those interviews to see that we are dealing with an attempt at exceptionally absurd censorship. “They talk about my statements that Germany, by dumping illegal immigrants on us, is waging a hybrid war against us, that the presence of illegal immigrants leads to a decline in security, and that they do not assimilate,” Bąkiewicz recounts.
Bąkiewicz’s alleged victim: “Duda, you are the worst b…ard”
The witch hunt against Bąkiewicz has been intensifying year by year. Let us recall that he was convicted of violating the bodily integrity of “Grandma Kasia” during the so-called women’s strike of 2020, known for vulgar language and attacking police officers. This happened despite the fact that in the video of the event it can be seen that Bąkiewicz did not touch “Grandma Kasia,” who on church grounds under a statue of Jesus on the cross was screaming “f… off.” Bąkiewicz, in turn, was questioned in an investigation concerning the chant he raised. He wrote about it: “On November 9 I am supposed to explain myself to the police (I received a summons for questioning still as a witness, but who knows how it will go later…) over the slogan I shouted in October 2020…, attention! AVE CHRISTUS REX.” President Andrzej Duda pardoned Bąkiewicz in the “Grandma Kasia” case. The “injured party,” Katarzyna Augustynek, reacted to the pardon with her characteristic level of culture, stating: “Duda, you are the worst b…ard.”
The search for legal provisions to hit Bąkiewicz with is in full swing. When he took part in a protest against bringing illegal immigrants to Radom, the Radom-East District Prosecutor’s Office initiated proceedings concerning “exerting influence by violence or unlawful threat on the official activities of the Radom City Council through the unlawful occupation of the rostrum and refusal to leave it voluntarily, followed by resisting intervening officers of the Municipal Guard in Radom, which resulted in the need to interrupt the session and set a new date for the meeting for March 31, 2025.”
Similar charges were brought against Bąkiewicz in Zamość, but there the police initially tried not to be maneuvered into repression. Mayor Rafał Zwolak and Civic Platform councilors (KO) concluded that by speaking at city hall about illegal immigrants, Bąkiewicz had committed… electioneering. However, the Municipal Police Headquarters in Zamość concluded that he had not disrupted the session, because he spoke during breaks in the proceedings. The case was discontinued. However, as a result of a complaint filed by Civic Platform councilors (KO) to the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lublin, the case returned to Zamość and, after renewed analysis, ended with a motion to court seeking punishment for the leader of the Border Defense Movement (ROG).
A search over a march from… six years ago
The repression is not limited to charges; physical harassment has also appeared. In September 2024, police entered Bąkiewicz’s home and carried out a search. For what? Under the pretext of… looking for documents from the 2018 Independence March. The issue was that one of the march participants, in an event attended by hundreds of thousands of people, was allegedly intimidating someone by chanting slogans. “Anyone, even someone very critical of me and of the circles I come from, must admit that the reason for the search is completely absurd, completely nonsensical. I was neither a suspect nor a witness in this case,” Bąkiewicz says. There is no doubt that the point was to gain access to his laptop and phone so that the authorities could obtain information about his activities.
“For me it is clear that the authorities are simply afraid of Robert Bąkiewicz. Just like under communism, it is about subduing society by silencing prominent individuals. And as then, it will bring the opposite effect,” says “Major” Waldemar Fydrych to Gazeta Polska.
